DESIGNER WEEKENDS: SPECIALTY PAINTING BY McNAMARA DESIGN!

Whether she's working on a room, a piece of furniture, or something as small as a picture frame, this girl knows how to paint!  Meaghan McNamara, of McNamara Design in Washington DC, describes herself as "teacher by day, designer by night".  We think she is one talented lady, so we wanted to share some of her recent projects.

Nursery Project

Striped Nursery Walls

Striped Nursery Walls

Meaghan pepped up a nursery through striped walls.  Her goal was to "add depth to the space, giving the eye another visual layer, while maintaining a hint of traditional design".  Using a few basic tools,  she completely transformed this room into a space fit for any little one!  We love the fun vibe of this nursery!

Furniture Rehab

One of Meaghan's specialties is furniture refinishing.  You can check out some of her latest work on the Rehab page of her blog.  Below are some of our favorites!

Nursery Cabinet

Nursery Cabinet

When Meagan's clients gave her free reign to update this cabinet for their nursery, she recalled that they like chevron. She decided to switch the pattern up a bit, using painters tape, to create a herringbone pattern.  It was the perfect design inspiration to turn this cabinet from ordinary to chic!

Bois Dresser

Bois Dresser

Meaghan took an old oak dresser and added a bit of glam with a light blue faux bois, using tools from her local craft store.  We love this idea for updating outdated furniture!

Side Table

Side Table

This end table belonged to Meaghan's client for more than two decades and had seen better days. Meaghan knew that hidden under the battered layers of paint was a gem!   After sanding it down, priming, painting, and adding updated hardware, this table was ready for the third generation!

Bar

Bar

Meaghan transformed an armoire into a fabulous bar with  white paint and new drawer pulls.  The American flag spray adhesive offers a bit of  whimsy when you open the piece.  We love this patriotic idea!

We think Meaghan shows us that a little bit of paint, imagination, and elbow grease can transform any room!  What can she help you with?  To find out more about Meaghan's work, check out her blog, The Notebook.

We can't wait to see what comes next for this talented gal!

Happy Painting.
