As some of you may already know, each morning I post a Morning Find to my Twitter account. What's a Morning Find? It's a cool product I've come across, a happening furniture sale, or a creative idea that I think everyone should know.
Below is a roundup of my October Morning Finds:
Little House Blog posted tips and tricks that we had to share for working with an Ikea kitchen.
Celerie Kemble recently released a chic wallpaper line through Schumacher. We're not the only ones who seem to like it - the showroom seems to keep running out of samples!
Suite NY hosted a benefit for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation by asking designers to reinterpret the Jalk GJ Chair.
Napa Style sells pendants made from vintage seltzer bottles. We think these original pieces add something unique to a kitchen island!
ABC Carpet & Home carries Kirti pendants on their first floor. One of these adds a lot of character to a space!
Hillwood Estate, in Washington DC, is hosting an exhibit called "Pret-aPapier", where artist Isabelle de Borchgrave has created a history of fashion by using paper. The exhibit is open through December 30th. If you miss the exhibit, the spectacular gardens are still worth the visit!
We love this Spindle Canopy Bed from Rosenberry Rooms as a bed that any little girl could grow into.
We saw a piece of fabric framed on a wall in a showroom and thought this made for a genius way to add inexpensive art to a space!
We love Two Jakes for their striped vintage metal furniture, and thought this bed was too cool not to share.
Y Lighting was having a 20% off sale on mid-century modern lighting, including this Miss K Lamp.
Any piece of furniture that serves two purposes is a great find in our book. The Raleigh Ottoman, from Pottery Barn, offers something to kick your feet up onto and storage.
Purcell Murray is the US distributor for La Cornue. This recently released 1908 range is on our "dream kitchen" list!
Once we felt a chill in the air, we rushed to find the best throws our sources have to offer. Top of our list? This simple, chic, and cozy Draper Stripe Throw from Dwell Studios.
Whether in black or red, we never tire of this Peso side table from Holly Hunt.
While bouncing around town, we came across this creative solution to cracks and splinters in hardwood floors - just add river rocks and a little grout! Rustic chic!
We have used these glass nesting bowls from Heather Palmer on fireplace mantels, shelves, and on stacks of books to add a touch of visual interest and art to a space.
Madeline Weinrib hosted a sample sale at ABC Carpet. It was an amazing range of pillows, carpets, and textiles!
On a dreary day, this Dusty Chair from Lillian August was like sitting in a pair of Ugg boots. We found it hard to get up!
When we discovered these lacquered vases from Lars Bolander, we fell in love. Strategically placing one in a room can make a big visual impact.
Things came to a standstill when super-storm Sandy hit our area, and our thoughts go out to the families who were affected. There are some incredible relief effort happening. Two of our favorites:
1. Diapers.com: Donate an "essentials" package of items for babies, household, or pets, and Diapers.com will make sure the supplies are donated to those who need them in New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut.
2. NYC Marathon Runners for Sandy: Runners who were hoping to participate in the NYC marathon have found a way to help via their Facebook page. They urge local runners to join them in delivering supplies to local areas.
Happy Halloween! No knives needed to make these darling pumpkins! And because they're not cut open, they'll last through Thanksgiving. Find out how to make them on A Beautiful Mess.
Do any of these morning finds work for you? Let us know – we’d love to see pictures!
